It’s All One Big Non-Saloon

by Steven J. Serafiani

Look at the average cowboy; slick drawl
and even slicker on oil spill
he stumbles into some non-saloon waving
his big blue handkerchief
they all laugh and once they return to their
drinks after their big laugh,
cowboy ponies up what change he has and
orders well
He puts that down in one and then tells
everyone to go fuck themselves with
parking lot retreat, dead air return
one exhale clean another Marlboro dirty
fumbles keys to enter ’87; quiet.
the big
sit in a city that doesn’t need a
cowboy anymore.
