the weldor

by Steven J. Serafiani

It wells up and I weld it
It wells up and I weld it
It wells up and I weld it
the kid in the glossy is gone
and I have not been fair to the man in the compacted sand
I’ve stuffed smoke into his lungs
I’ve poured concoctions into his stomach
I’ve lessened his relationships
I’ve romanticized cynicism
I’ve removed the vitals, love and passion
I’ve created a shell game for one
I have not been fair
so, now, it wells up
it wells up and it bursts.
